This pet care video aims to give you ideas on how to teach kids pet care through literacy activities as well as taking them out into the world to interact with animals first-hand. Learning how to take care of animals is an important skill for children to learn at an early age, as it both helps to protect living creatures as well as providing multiple benefits for the child.

Pets, when treated well, provide their families with a bottomless fountain of love, loyalty and friendship. This companionship can help boost self-esteem and confidence in children as well as providing stress relief. Pet care can also teach children valuable qualities such as respect, responsibility, empathy and patience. If getting a pet is not something that would fit in with your lifestyle and circumstances, there are many other ways to teach children to care for animals.

Whether they want to learn how to care for a dog, cat, canary or corn snake, your kids will be covered with our collection of resources at Twinkl. We have differentiated resources to cater for a variety of ages and ability levels. We also have lots of great KS2 activities for English, science, PSHE, mindfulness, and many other areas.
