Sixth- through eighth-grade students are invited to enter the fifth annual Vet Set Go “Become a Veterinarian Camp Contest 2021.” The online essay contest — which starts today — provides the students a chance to win a coveted spot at Auburn University’s Junior Vet Camp from July 11-16, 2021 at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Three students will be awarded a prize package that includes camp tuition and room and board at the Auburn Junior Veterinary Camp in Auburn, Alabama. For more information, visit vetsetgo.com.
7-13: Professional Pet Sitters Week
Started in 1995 by Pet Sitters International, Professional Pet Sitters Week honors professional pet-care providers who offer quality, dependable care to clients’ pets; educates the pet-owning public about the advantages of professional in-home pet care; and encourages pet-loving entrepreneurs to explore pet sitting as a career. This is a great time to give your pet sitter an extra thank you! Follow the week on social media with the hashtag #nationalprofessionalpetsittersweek or #petsitting.
21-27: Animal Poison Prevention Week
This week focuses on educating pet parents on what can poison their pets, identifying the signs of poisoning and how to prevent it. It’s a good time to remember the springtime dangers of poisonous materials like plants, herbicides, fertilizers and pesticides. The ASCPCA lists many household products, foods and plants that can be toxic to pets. Visit the ASPCA Animal Poison Control website for information on how to keep your pet safe.
