Two cats are hoping to find a loving home in time for Christmas after being abandoned with a heartbreaking note from their owner.
RSPCA inspector Allison North was called to Leicester on 3 December after a member of the public found the cat carrier left by a postbox on the junction of Stuart Road and Hillsborough Road.
She said:
“The cats had been left in a cat carrier in a public spot so we believe the person who left them wanted them to be found quickly. They’d been left with a heartbreaking note, written by their owner, saying they could no longer take care of them because they were ‘too old’.”
The note, written on lined paper with purple pen, said:
Our names are Flo and Floss.
Please can you find me a home with people who can look after us. We are very friendly and like lots of fuss. My mummy can’t look after us anymore. She is very sad. I don’t know how old we are but we still like to catch birds.
Please look after my friend for me. I’m too old now.

Flo and Floss were taken into the RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre, in Leicester, where they’re now being cared for by staff. The cats, thought to be around six-years-old, are available for adoption and staff want to rehome them together.
Allison added:
“It makes me so sad that these cats have been separated from their owner who clearly loved them dearly and wanted the best for them.
“We’d encourage anyone who is struggling to care for their pets to ask for help. There are lots of charities and organisations who work very hard to support owners and help to keep their pets with them.”
Floss and Flo are sweet, friendly cats who enjoy human company and love having a nap together on the sofa or being fussed. They’d like to find a home without a dog but would be happy in a family home with children aged seven and older.
