Sunday Quotes: Hoping for Spring

Good To Know

cat-spring-flowers-hopeA year ago today, I started writing extended Sunday Quotes columns. The first column was, appropriately, titled “Fear.” Back then, I couldn’t have imagined in my worst nightmares that more than a year later, we’d still be dealing with the pandemic.

I really expected to just go back to the original concept of Sunday Quotes after a few weeks, maybe a couple of months at most. I started Sunday Quotes to share beautiful images of cats with lovely quotes to brighten your Sunday. But week after week, so many of you told me that my reflections on how I’m coping with various aspects of the pandemic are helping you, so I kept going. It is quite humbling to realize that sharing my own struggles has helped so many of you.

So here we are, a year later. We’ve made it through what arguably was one of the darkest winters of our lives. Finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Everything feels a little better and brighter to me lately. Maybe it’s the way the light changes in late winter, bringing the promise of spring. Maybe it’s seeing the first crocuses peek through the ground. Maybe it’s the occasional warm day.

Spring always comes, no matter what. And the coming of spring reminds us that we can’t allow ourselves to lose hope. Maybe our lives will never return to the “normal” of the before times, but this pandemic will be over. And while we can control very little about how and when that will happen, we can choose hope.

On some Sundays going forward, you may only see a beautiful image with a quote, but as long as I feel that I can offer something that will help you navigate these turbulent times, I’ll continue to write an expanded column. I hope that on the Sundays when I don’t, you’ll still enjoy the images and quotes I choose for you, even without a lot of extra words from me.
