A little kitten was rejected by her mom but found a wonderful family to share her life with.

When autumn leaves began to fall last year, Laura from Castle Donington, England came across a post from her friend about a homeless kitten needing assistance.

As it turned out, the kitten trekked all the way to a property from a neighboring farm. “She was the runt of a farm litter and was seemingly rejected by her mum,” Laura told Love Meow. “She was only five weeks old, covered in fleas and had ulcers on her eyes.”

The homeowner who found her, wasn’t able to take her in. He reached out for help and hoped to get the kitten the medical attention she desperately needed. Without hesitation, Laura extended her help.

“I booked an appointment at the vets, picked her up and took her straight there. She was so much smaller than I expected and meowed the whole way to the vets.”

The kitten was just skin and bones and had an upper respiratory infection. Despite being a bit rough around the edges, she was an instant love-bug.

Soon after she moved in, the kitten insisted on following her humans around and cuddling in their lap.

The kitten rested up that day, making up for lost sleep. She got up around midnight, crying for food and her people’s attention.

“She was a superstar from the moment she came home; eating, drinking, playing and using the litter tray straight away,” Laura shared with Love Meow.

“The first few nights were a bit sleepless as she needed regular feeding. We just so wanted her to start looking and feeling better.”

The kitten was given treatments for fleas and the cat flu, plenty of good food and endless supply of TLC. Her eyes cleared up, weight increased and energy rose. In just six days, the sweet kitty almost doubled in size.

Laura fell head over heels for the little bundle of fur on the day she saw her, and knew she couldn’t part with her. “My husband Lewis, who agreed we could re-home her so long as he got to choose the name — Riley,” Laura added.

As soon as Riley got some strength in her legs, she put them to good use. Her hind thumpers were strong and fast and no toy could escape the powerful bunny kicks.

In two weeks’ time, Riley was able to get on her humans’ high bed all by herself, and she was very proud of it.

Her personality came through in full swing and took the house by storm.

Riley decided that she would appoint herself as the supervisor in the home office.

She would offer “help” whenever her humans were in front of the computer and try to grab their pen while “critiquing” their penmanship. The little ball of energy wouldn’t stop making antics until she was all worn out.

“She’s now about four months old and has a real rebellious personality! We don’t know if she’s a little bit feral having coming from a farm cat, or just a lively kitten, or both,” Laura told Love Meow.

“She makes us laugh so much, it’s lovely to see her going from strength to strength even though she is very strong-willed! She likes to annoy her big sister, our first rescue cat, Fliss.”

Riley has transformed from a sickly little farm kitten rejected by mom to a healthy, happy, rambunctious young cat.

The little former stray is living the life of her dreams.

She constantly wants to know what her humans and the other resident cats are up to, and continues to create mischief every day at the place she calls home.
