Sunday Quote: A Better Future

Good To Know

We’re six months into this pandemic now, and the future doesn’t look any more certain than it did when all of this first started. But then, I suppose, that’s always the case. We never know what the future will bring. It just feels so different right now because we’re dealing with uncertainty at unprecedented levels.

Some days, the fear and uncertainty get to me, but I really try to not let myself get dragged own into the darkness. When I can take a longer and broader view of current events, I have to believe that ultimately, these challenging times are the beginning of a massive transformation for the planet on both a spiritual and practical level.

Change never comes easy. It involves letting go, grieving what was, and being open to possibilities. I don’t think things will ever be the same as they were before the pandemic, but maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Maybe the world needed to be shaken up to remind us that we were on a self-destructive course. Maybe it’s time to make different choices on both a personal and global level.

Making different choices will look different for each individual. For some people, the changes may be as small as carrying one small new habit acquired during quarantine forward, for others, it may involve something as major as moving to a different part of the world. No matter what choices you make, try to take a broader view and remember that “you create a good future by creating a good present,” as Eckart Tolle put it so succinctly.
