Good To Know

Best Friends Animal Society has introduced the next level in pet-centric travel with the opening of Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile. Not only does this new pet-centric hotel and general store cater to travelers looking for unique pet-friendly lodging, it supports the lifesaving work of Best Friends Animal Society. Designed by WOW Atelier of Salt Lake City and interior designer Jillian Kliewer, the new property is located among the famous red rocks of Kanab, Utah.

The Roadhouse features 30 regular rooms, eight suites and two two-level suites (with pet-friendly amenities like durable fabrics and sleeping areas with pet mattresses), as well as complimentary pet-washing stations, a fenced-in park with a water feature, and pet-walking and pet-sitting services. Two of the rooms are specifically designed to accommodate cats, featuring a window perch for lounging, high-hanging light fixtures, cat-proof blinds and curtains, generously spaced furniture and a litter box under the bathroom vanity.

The Mercantile houses a reception area, a common area space for guests, and retail that includes Best Friends and Roadhouse branded merchandise.

The new property will provide complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the organization’s nearby Sanctuary and will also offer Best Friends member activities, including volunteer opportunities and pet sleepovers.

Situated at the center of “Base Camp,” Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile serves as an ideal base camp for day trips to Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon National Parks and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Learn more at bestfriendsroadhouse.com.
