It all starts with regular brushing. This removes dirt, spreads their natural oils, reduces shedding, and helps prevent tangling and matting. There are lots of brushes and combs to choose from, each designed for your dog’s specific needs and coat types. Ask your pet stylist or veterinarian which ones are best for your dog. Pay attention to any matted fur because these mats can be painful for your dog. If you find a mat, don’t try to cut it out. Gently pull it apart with your fingers. Then, carefully comb it out. A detangling spray can also help. If it’s severe, you might need to have your pet stylist or your veterinarian remove it.
Regular grooming also includes cleaning eyes and ears. His eyes and tear stains should be cleaned daily. And check his ears once a week. You only need to clean them if they look dirty or have an odor. Clean your dog’s teeth and gums at least once a week too. Then, don’t forget his paws. Check them often for any cuts or irritations and trim his nails about twice a month to keep them at a short, healthy length.
You should bathe your dog every 4-6 weeks depending on the breed. More if he goes swimming or gets really dirty. Regular grooming keeps your dog healthy and happy. Plus, it provides great bonding time. When he’s all finished, reward him with a special treat and a whole lot of love.
Something extraordinary happens when pets and people connect. A unique bond is formed that results in something powerful, not only between pets and people, but in a way that makes the world a better place. Our promise is to nurture that relationship completely – mind and body.
