Get ready for Beast Mode with the real-life ‘dogs of war’! The boerboel – a canine breed known for fearlessly pursuing lions and bears – is having a surge in popularity after almost going extinct in the 1970s. Danny Gibson and wife Paula, of Washington state, USA, are the team behind Barbarian Boerboels – and say their dogs are “the epitome of Beast Mode”. Boerboels, also known as South African Mastiffs, can grow upwards of 200lbs and their fiercely territorial nature means they make excellent home protection dogs.
